Hello from Slow Construct, we hope you’re doing well.
Our first NYC group exhibition, Safe & Sound, is opening next week! Together with Leroy Street Studio, we’re excited to share with you the art, furniture, and objects designed by 24 architect-makers whose work explores themes of safety, comfort, and belonging at home—we’ll be previewing some of the perspectives on Instagram, though we recommend viewing in-person. We hope you’ll join us at Allen Street Gallery next Friday, May 15th. RSVP here.
In other news, read on for a MoMA field trip, mother’s day workshop, strategy sessions, and more.

Opening Reception: Safe & Sound Exhibition
On Friday, May 15th, join us for the exhibition bringing together work by architect-makers from New York, London, and Paris. In an era marked by political strain, housing uncertainty, and global instability, Safe & Sound asks what refuge looks like now—when the promise of home can feel fragile—and how art, design, and material choices can carry a sense of protection, comfort, and safety.
Field Trip: Architecture Summit at MoMA
Come wander the MoMA this Saturday, May 9th for The World Around, a one-day summit dedicated to talks and provocations from architects, designers, and thinkers working across climate, culture, tech, and the built environment. We’ll be gathering for the 3rd session featuring speakers such as Michael Kimmelman, Alejandro Aravena, and Tatiana Bilbao.
Floral Workshop: Sunnyland x Snacks Worldwide
On Sunday, May 10th, celebrate Earth and Mother’s Day in Bed-Stuy with Sunnyland, a Taiwanese microfarm building deeper relationships to plants. Learn about flowers, their cultural, reproductive, and ecological stories with SC member Ali Chen, accompanied by light bites, botanical beverages, and premade bouquets for purchase.
Exhibition: Cabinet of Curiosities
SC member Alejandra Rojas will be participating in a group show of small ceramic rarities, drawing upon the 16th century conception of the cabinet of curiosities to present ceramic objects and sculptures that express wondrousness and ingenuity.

Strategy Sessions: Marketing + Finance Workshops
We’re launching a new monthly series designed for creatives and founders navigating growth. Each session brings together marketing and finance—connecting how you position and communicate your work with how you sustain and scale it. Led by Jesslyn Guntur and Cecilia Hernandez (Fractional CMO & CFO), sessions are structured around a focused theme, followed by a live, open workshop where we apply ideas directly to your business.
Case Study: A Marketing Strategy for Memorial Reefs
A look back at our work with Resting Reef, a UK-based, environmentally-led memorial service transforming ashes into living reef structures. We joined as a Fractional Marketing Director working across London and Bali to develop a narrative and positioning that balanced environmental innovation with cultural and spiritual sensitivity. If you’re interested in learning more, or considering a memorial reef for yourself or a loved one, feel free to reach out. We have a special partnership for the SC community.
